I could, and would, pay more for higher quality service. But it would have to be backed by a genuine performance guarantee. However, DL management does seem to be ready to run that experiment.
For the most part I agree with you. The challange though is they can not raise fares like everyone thinks. It is cheaper to fly a private/ charter plane if you have several people going to the same place. The nashville to new york fligths are back at 1500 for F. the cheapest y is 700 or so. I am sure the fares will come down again soon when WN starts flying LGA.
