Agreed with previous suggestion to have your child eat before the flight. When I fly with the kids (who, strangely, have EXACTLY the same food likes as your son ), I pack a bag with snacks. This will be especially handy on a long flight, and/or if there are delays on the ground.

If he eats before the flight, you can then have two BF meals for yourself. (I am reminded of the scene from "Midnight Run." The Robert DeNiro character suggests to the Charles Grodin character - who will not be eating on the flight - to order the lobster tail. DeNiro would then order the steak and "get a little surf-n-turf action going.")
