Here is a typical routing from LAX to SFO. You will not see much of downtown SF or the Golden Gate Bridge from either side, as the airport is south of the city. For the departure out of LAX, the right side will give you a view of the coastline. Once you turn north and cross onto land, the right side it pretty boring while the left side will let you see the coast line until you get north of Big Sur. Then you cross into Monterey Bay and see the coastline again from the right side. Once you reach SF Bay and turn northwest for a landing on 28R or 28L, the right side gives a view of the Bay and the east side of the bay while the west side gives a view of Palo Alto and San Carlos and the hills of the peninsula.
