You could ditch the return segment but I'd not really want to waste the 25K points on a $150 change fee option. I'd just pay the money at that point.
I should have clarified that I'd use NWA points, which after October, are going to become all but useless to me (as I only used them really for CO upgrades). And I've got close to 200K to spare! The shame of that, though, is that I'd lose the miles for the whole return segment.

How does one "ditch?" Just not show up and don't let them know? Is there any penalty that I could get for that?

Maybe to get the miles, it's worth the $150? Oh, I'm torn...
