The penalty for ditching the whole ticket would be the same $150 fee that you would be paying to change the ticket. That is the price you pay for getting a discounted ticket.

You could ditch the return segment but I'd not really want to waste the 25K points on a $150 change fee option. I'd just pay the money at that point.
