I know that at the beginning of the liquids/gels frenzy, people were getting gel shoe inserts taken away. I have shoes with Dr. Scholls inserts (the "gellin'" kind) and I would like to avoid getting these taken away. They make my shoes infinitely more comfortable, so I would kind of resent having to take them out because of the moronic TSA rules. They are technically not even real gels, they are just soft rubber, but of course they TSA is inconsistant in everything else, so I am sure I can't count on simple logic to apply here.

However, it does seem that some of the frenzy has died down a bit, so I am wondering if these are being allowed to pass through security. Has anyone had issues with this lately? Are shoe inserts still "evil and a significant terrorist threat"?
