Sao Paulo is a great city!
Been there several time since 2005 and always had a good time, never had any problems.
Arriving at the airport in the early morning (as most flights from Europe do) the ATMs might still be closed, so better have some money changed before.
A taxi from the airport to Avenida Paulista is up to 80 R$ (about 25 - 30 US$).
Or use the
Airport Bus Service, the ticket is about R$ 25.
Jardins is very nice to stay and to shop around, but it's surely also more expensive than other areas.
Walk, take a taxi or use the excellent and save metro. Just avoid the rush hours in the morning and evening.
Keep only the money you need with you. Usually I keep my money in a small plastic jacket, just big enough to hold some notes, my subway tickets and one credit card.
For Clubbing: Take a cab to
Blue Space,
The Week or
Ultra Diesel. Ultra Diesel is not so big, but it's nearer the city centre at Plaza Republica. That area quite a few hustlers are working on the street.
Or join the worlds biggest
Gay Pride Event on the 14th of June on Avenida Paulista with just some three or four million other people!
And if you like to relax in a sauna: The
Clube 269 is very nice and not far away from Jardins (just down the other side of Av. Paulista. Many go there after clubbing...

The
Thermas Lagoa is maybe best known for the services young men are keen to offer...

Have fun and enjoy your trip.
