I think the parents were very inconsiderate of the last two passengers in FC.

If they did not want the ice-cream, and there were still two passengers to be served, then by all means, if there was something left, ask if it would be possible, but not when there are passengers still to be served. If they want the kids to have the FC catering, including the ice-cream, then pay for them to sit in FC, not fare on AGSF and his/her travel companion.

Yes, I agree the FA handled it well, maybe could have been handled a little differently.

There was a massive discussion in the BA Exec Club about a similar thing, of taking items from the Club World Club Kitchen back to people in World Traveller, and the resounding opinion was a bit fat stonkin' NO... even worse would have been to ask the FA/CC to take it back for them!
