I just booked 2 award tickets for my friends from Montreal to visit me in July.
For 1, I used US miles & was charged US$47 taxes + $25 Award Processing Fee

. With an open-jaw, I could not book online, but I think the CSR forgot ^ the $30 Phone Booking Fee

.
For the other friend I used AC miles & was quoted US$122 in taxes & fuel. Because I started the res online, I avoided ^ the C$30 Phone Booking Fee

. 2 hours later I get the itin by e-mail & corrected total is US$104, which includes US$32.20 "US" tax which does not apply because YUL is in the Buffer Zone! Also I was charged US$4.50 for XF PHL, from which award tickets are exempt.
What's the best way to get my US$36.70 refund?
Also, how can we get Aeroplan to stop charging these inapplicable taxes?
