I used to sell Kosher meats, not too much is in true Kosher (read not Kosher-style) hot dogs, usually beef, spices, some preservatives and that is it, only the forequarter cuts of beef are used.
A kosher frank is good no doubt but a natural casing frank is what really sets apart a hot dog in my opinion, I don't care what meat(s) or parts it is stuffed with.
While in erlin this year, I ate at several Doner Kebab places and had mixed results. Back in the 80s in Germany when the Kebab shops became popular you were able to get Lamb kebab. Nowadays the lamb meat is "too expensive" as one of the shop owners stated and nobody wants to buy it. Most of them now sell either chicken or beef (which I think is more like mixed meat) kebabs.
It's amazing how many Doner Kebab shops there are in Berlin.
Happy eating.
