I tend to agree. There has been an increase in the number of reports recently of travellers with low or no FF status getting op-ups.
Of course this could be the start of a dangerous trend whereby airlines assume their higher status passengers know about the delights of F and J class and will just buy them anyway (
) so no need to show them what they already know, whereas the odd op-up to a "lesser" passenger is venture capital that might bring on someone new once they have been titillated in the front.
