Remember this isn't a automobile, this is an airliner moving hundreds of miles an hour that is severely and suddenly displaced. It also has to be lightweight and allow for passengers to have some level of comfort. Apparently, it also has to be able to do all that with a 150+ pound mass just floating around randomly.

I never claimed to be an expert - I just happen to know enough to recognize that your dismissal of the subject is entirely without knowledge or merit.
Someone was hurt. Could it have been prevented? We don't know, but there are parallels in other industries that suggest it is possible. It is a question that should be investigated properly - not an argument to be won on a frequent flyer forum.

Let's go back to the "world is flat" analogy - you're saying we shouldn't investigate, that we might fall off the end of the earth! You can't think of any way the world couldn't be flat, no one is suppose to sail over there anyway because it's clearly posted that the world is flat, and you're a sailor so you should know such things.
