Totally OT :

You just reminded me when I was at this utterly very rather posh hotel doing a session with the Texaco Exec Management.

We were discussing in a afternoon session about all the changes Tex had made, good bad & indifferent & one of our discussions was about the new logistics companies of deliveries & its many problems, as the room was rather irate about this as a main aspect ( we were all missing targets for months & thus our bonuses but we had a lack of stock on the new auto replenish system/delivery company ), one of the Chief Exec's table trying to control the irate non head office management trying & to divert questions away from why TOP TABLE about their change of "logistics" asked me ( I was the youngest of the crowd by far so the gentleman prob thought I was highly inexperienced as I did look alot younger than I was )

"So you walk into a restaurant, and most things on the menu you are told are not available, as a loyal customer how do you react ?"

"Easy" I replied, "I simply ask if their CEO and board members looking to save money employed incompetent Exel & then ignored retail, area & regional management for 6 months with Exel problems too?"

The whole room burst in to loud applaud & laughter, except those bright red faces at the table staring back at us !!

At that point anxiously, I thought oh no what have I said.

The most senior head honcho at "table red face" table stood up and addressed us all " ok we are listening, you have our attention - did we make a mistake with Exel ? "

The hall went wild !!!!

Later said "red faces" came to me, I thought I was sacked ! But they thanked me, and said I knew how to naturally lead a team of employee's I had never met before till that day & " I would go far in the company...", I replied I would not and asked why I stated "I was working my notice" why I as asked ?
"I want to work for a company who's customers, staff & shareholders best interests are balanced & issues addressed quicker than in the last 6 months I have experienced with Texaco, myself working double my salary hours because of all the poor decisions made was not acceptable for most the management applauding earlier, please do excuse me all".

When leaving that day, them "red faces" all shook my hand & wished me the best.

My regional spent the next 3 weeks daily trying to get me to retract my notice, he disliked me & obviously he was doing so on "orders".

Oh how I had forgot that, oh those were the days

Thanks FEELING, you just brought a massive smile to my face

I believe all worked out well therein for the rest of the Texaco managers.
