I've done this flight a few times over the last year and I have never experienced huge custom lineups at that time (although YMMV). US customs doesn't open until 5:30 AM so if you arrive at 5:00 AM you should have no problem. If you aren't checking in luggage and do OLCI you could even arrive a bit later.
