Discussion - Improving the newcomers experience for all

We were all newcomers to the BA Board once. However once you have been here a while it can be a little frustrating to see the ‘same old questions’ asked over and over again. As there is currently quite a influx of new members to the BA Board we’d like to – for a week from 26th May– solicit your open and honest views on the subject and how we can make things better for everyone in the community. This is an extension of the Mod Team seeking more general feedback (in this thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ter-place.html ) and the same ground rules apply:

Off-limits is discussion of moderation ANYWHERE outside of the BA board, any names of moderators except Prospero, Shuttle-Bored and Swanhunter, and no personal attacks on us or any other members allowed. There will be no warnings on this.

Whilst we agree it's generally permissible to discuss threads, and trends, it is inappropriate to discuss a fellow poster. In the same vein, discussions of bans and suspensions in all their forms and colours out of bounds.

We request, and expect, a respectful discussion. If, in our sole discretion, we believe your responses aren’t productive to the thread, you will receive one (1) warning via PM. After that the normal FT rules on disruptive posting etc will apply.

We have a few ideas shown below, but would like to hear of any others you might have as well as your (polite) feedback on ours!

Ideas:

• A Newcomer thread – a place to ask the question you thought too silly to post
• A ‘Questions about the Stickies’ thread
• Retaining the ‘Read This First’ announcement at the top of the forum
