I thought I should ask my questions here as the web forum is a little more receptive then an email to Qantas.
Some questions I have:
*Given that I am not a Qantas Frequent Flyer member, however I have a sibling who is - can I use their card to collect points? ie. For hotel bookings etc. even though my name is not on the card?
No. The name on the reservation needs to be the same as the name on the Qantas FF Card
*Is it possible to make a family account?
Ie. Family members have their own card, however the points earned go into the one account?
Nope. Need one card per member, but you do have the ability to transfer up to 100,000 points to a related family member once in every 12 month period.
*How are points earned by booking flights and what are ‘Awards’ flights?
You simply supply QF with your QF FF number when you book. You are then awarded 1 point per mile of travel, with a minimum points guarantee of 1000 points on any Qantas flight with a QF Flight number. Award flights are flights you redeem using the points you earned from revenue flights. Qantas list the earn and redeem rates on their website. Check it out there.
*Can I use my existing points to book a flight which also rewards points?
nope. Redeeming points for a flight books you into a fare class that does not award points. This makes sense. Points are awarded for spend, not actually being on the plane itself.
The Qantas Frequent Flyer website is pretty extensive. Have a read of it if you need clarification on stuff
