Just to add another experience..........The Sheraton Stockholm was nice enough to store my luggage when I checked out for a night so I could country hop to Finland for a night. (They didn't even know I was staying at the Hotel Kamp - another Starwood ;-) ).
It certainly didn't seem like an imposition to them....
again you had stayed at least the previous night
and were returning to stay. Really either or is enough IMO
Was just in SYD and stayed at the 4P pretty much every other night as we were in and out of the city and the Country as well. So I had no problems asking them to hold onto my bag for the 1 or 2 nights I wasnt gonna be there.
I thought the OP was asking " I will be in XYZ but dont want to schelp my bags with me all day then leaving town, I have status with SPG do you think I can leave my bags with a SPG Hotel for the day, with no res and with no plans to spend a night with them".
