It's the only airline that does not award credit with Fairfield Inn stays.
It's also the only Marriott brand that doesn't get credit with Southwest.. even TownePlace Suites gets some LUV.
Because Mariott doesn't feel it's worth giving the minimum number of RR credits.

You're used to loopholes from brands like Hilton HHonors which give the same number of RR credits at Hampton despite giving 1/5 of the miles at Hampton (as at all other HHonors properties) for all miles-based airlines. So it's Hilton that blinked.

Marriott, might be willing to give you 0.15 RR credits or whatever per stay, but Southwest's system is not able to process such a small fraction of an RR credit. And thus between the choice of giving more or giviing none at all, they give none at all.
