I have a question (I spent a while searching but didn't find the answer, please point me in the right direction if I missed something)- my husband and I have gold status but probably won't requalify for 2010 as we are expecting in mid-August. We'll stop traveling early July and probably won't start again until November or maybe even Christmas. We'll have accrued around 15,000 qualifying miles/20 segments by the time of our leave and will probably be around 20,000 miles with Nov/Dec travel. We live in Central America and our travel is mainly between CA and the Caribbean (via Miami, of course) with several trips a year to the Northeast US.

Is there any hope of keeping our gold status? It'll be sad enough losing the status, but especially since we'll soon be traveling with an infant.

Thanks!
Welcome to FlyerTalk, tgugringa!

If you and your husband travel together most of the time, then only one of you needs to retain status to keep most of the benefits. It sounds like you'll both be close by the end of the year, so I'd suggest seeing if one of you can schedule another quick trip or two to stay GLD.

Congratulations on your pending arrival!
