I make conference presentations all over the country and always ship my handout materials ahead of time to arrive the day before I do. I ship FedEx, not UPS, but I'm sure it's similar from the hotel's point of view. I write "For BLI-Flyer, Guest, arriving M/D/Yr" on the package above the hotel's address and have never had a problem with hotels accepting the package. Some large conference hotels charge a "storage" fee, but they're in the minority. As mentioned above, if you have any concerns call the hotel ahead of time and ask what their procedure is. If they do meetings or conferences at all, they will have a procedure for accepting packages for guests.
