Hello, novice flyer and fairly new convert here to the group at FlyerTalk...hope you can help me with 2 concerns I have.

First: I have a flight on Northwest (NWA 8) from HKG to NRT which is scheduled to arrive at 2pm. My flight on UAL 838 from NRT to SFO leaves at 4pm. Is that enough time to deplane, get my luggage, check it back in with UAL, and make it to my flight? It's my first time to Tokyo.

Second: My flight from BNA (Nashville) to NRT has me a little worried as well. Right now it's BNA-ORD, then 1:15 layover, ORD-SFO, 1:10 layover, and finally SFO-NRT. What happens if either BNA-ORD or ORD-SFO is delayed? What if I miss my SFO-NRT flight altogether? I don't want to lose a day in Japan...

These are probably naive questions but I'm a pretty young person excited about an Asia Pacific trip and the less worries the better =)
