If I'm not mistaken I think you can book a domestic segment on 9W as an AA code share only if it is part of an international connection or on an itinerary with a legal stopover and the flight is a legitimate codeshare. For example 9W 821 can be booked as AA5690 DEL-MAA if connecting from AA292 at DEL to MAA or after a legitimate stop over in DEL and on the same itinerary. If you purchase a seperate ticket on the same 9W821 flight in India then it'll have to be purchased as a 9W 821 flight and cannot be sold as AA5690.
