To expand on our mod's statement, no elite is entitled to an upgrade but rather eligible with available space. The 3-day window is the earliest at which Gold elites will receive an upgrade, but if revenue management feels that conditions warrant, they will hold first-class seats for sale.
In addition, as is routinely my experience on EWR-IAH-EWR, no automatic elite upgrades (outside of Y/B-Up) are cleared until the 24-hour mark. Under these circumstances, this means that no Platinums have been cleared either. With only four F seats remaining, I would not bet on scoring the the u/g as a Gold, but YMMV.
