On nwa.com, a good rule appears to have been that once a schedule change occurs that requires being "accepted" on nwa.com, the pax negotiating room goes way up (changing days, flight numbers, converting from lay-over to direct, refunds, etc).

By invert, by asking if you accept the change, what's NW going to do if you don't accept the change they initiated?
