Bumping up to add some places I recommend in the past 4 months of traveling here, mostly away from downtown:

Ono Hawaiian Cafe: poor location (behind a Firestone on Broadway), but decent Hawaiian food, both fusion and "local-kine" plate lunches. Owner began with a Hawaiian catering company before starting this place.

The "other" Hawaiian place in town, CK Hawaiian BBQ (near the IMAX theater in Boise Spectrum) is more along the lines of an L&L plate-lunch place.

Flatbread Community Oven: Neapolitan-style pizza in the new-ish Bown Crossing neighborhood. Claim to fame is their VPN certification. Great lunch combos of mini pizzas and salads.

Pat's Thai Kitchen: across from Broncos Stadium. Owners are a Thai family that made their way up here via L.A. Really like their Tom Ka Gai soup; they don't go overboard on the sweet coconut milk like other places, but balanced between savory, tangy, spicy. Their spicy level, BTW, rivals any of the better Thai places in the Bay Area.

Westside Drive-In: on State Street. Low-key drive-in dining style, but offers fare like Kobe Beef Finger Steaks and Pepsi-Cola Ribs. Huge portions at drive-in prices. Shown on Guy Fieri's Food Network show about Diners.

Oh, and for dessert, there's Blue Cow Frozen Yogurt on Apple. Big variety of self-serve FroYo and toppings, pay by weight. In the style of PinkBerry and the other Asian-owned Yogurt places dotting the Bay Area.

Finally, I rarely leave BOI without picking up a bag or two of in-store fried potato chips at the Albertsons near the Boise Factory Outlets. There's a kiosk at the front of the store where they cook it in front of you. And they do taste much fresher than the regular ones.
