The airplane is not short staffed. It is staffed per the company guidelines and in accordance with FAA rules. It is staffed just like many other airlines that make it work and that don't have these types of announcements.

Passengers are smarter than you may think. They know what you are trying to do and instead of complaining to management they will simply book flights on other airlines. Lower revenues leads to fewer flights which leads to fewer FA's. Is that what you are trying for? You know what they say, be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.
