No difference between ES doing this and airlines cramming more seats into a finite space by reducing pitch and/or seat width.
Poor analogies in my opinion. In this case, Embassy Suites seems to be trying to redefine a word that is generally accepted by the public as meaning a certain thing: Suite.

A better analogy in my opinion would be if an airline marketed "lie flat" business class seats...and then replaced 20% of its lie-flats with recliner style seats...but still marketed their cabin as a "lie flat" business cabin.

This is a branding issue, not a size issue.
