Me and 3 of my friends are planning on driving from Boston to Montreal and thus entering Canada with a car this weekend. All 4 of us are US Citizens.

My friend's US passport expired and thus he sent it for renewal. He has not gotten it back. He has a US naturalization certificate and a valid CT driver's license.

my question is - via car, can we get into Canada? I've read all the info and called the consulate but could not get to a person.
