How to Evaluate worth of spending $2000 on Singapore ticket to requalify for Platinum
I've been racking my brain to figure out whether I should spend $2000 for an M class ticket from NY to Bangkok or Singapore to get almost enough miles to retain my Platinum status for next year. I definitely won't do enough flying to keep it without this "mileage run". But I've never spent so much money on a mileage run.
I've been going back and forth about it because the program has been devalued and I already have so many miles on NW. Also, I'm thinking of shifting my flying to Continental with their changeover to Star because I already have a Lifetime President's Club membership.
It seems like many people are doing this kind of run for the triple elite status miles. How do you evaluate it and justify it?
Thanks.
