My vote goes to the Marriott Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia. Great hotel two blocks from one of the best beaches in the world. It is a five minute walk into Surfers Paradise, which has hundreds of cheap dining options. While not crime-free, this is a very safe place to go, particlarly if you are not going out to the bars during the wee hours of the morning. The hotel has a fabulous pool and there are many recreational options from surfing to whale watching. There is excellent public transportation should you want to do a little exploring. And they have an excellent airport with flights from all over Australia as well as international locations.
