If LM is only a 10 minute walk from the tents we may just end up doing that as I am used to walking (those who know me know I have quite a big stride
). I know we will be out and about a lot, but I really don't want to stay in a dirty room. Olafman- can you quell my fears about the 4P? Can I chalk the master thread up to FT drama queens?
I have actually stayed there 2x. Both times were perfectly acceptable; IIRC, breakfast is included in most rates (if not all). Don't remember anything bad, though a bit 2* more than 3*..... junior, not-knowledgeable desk staff, but very friendly. A hike from Hbf if you are dragging luggage, but a cheap taxi or tram ride away. Think Eastern European concrete block?
Really not bad inside at all--just not memorable. That said, I only have about 30K total in my SPG account, so this is perfect for me.
Also: I haven't read the T&Cs carefully of the Stay-2-get-1 promo with SPG, but IIRC it's good for any hotel on weekends before the end of September.... so, if any of the MUC hotels have standard rooms for sale, you'd be able to book those, right?
Anyway, I'd say if you want luxury, or you have 10K SPG pts in abundance, then you shouldn't book the 4Pts. Otherwise, for Oktoberfest's closest hotel, $45+ only 2800 pts seems like a steal!
