A couple of weeks ago I had to book a flight leaving the very next day for a funeral, I was surprised by paying $1,003 all in YVR-YYC-LHR-YVR at such short notice, and my SSWU cleared on the return. I expected to pay much more given prior last minute experiences. Other carriers wanted $3,000 for the same dates, even changing the return by a day or 2 made no difference to the fare differential.
