Actually my experience is that you DO get an email when the reservation is ticketed in Dearborn.
My experience is the same as yours. I ticketed by mail a couple months ago for a trip in July. Mailed on Monday and received an email confirmation that my e-ticket had been issued on Wednesday afternoon.
