What to expect in traveling with 3month old

Mr. poohhead is 3P
Ms. poohhead is general member

They are traveling ATL - ORD next week with 3 month old baby (lap child under Ms.)

Mr. Poohhead is 6A and Ms. Poohhead is 13A on A319
(different PRN, since their returning dates are different)

UA 321 on May 28 is pretty empty at this point.
18 seats are taken on E+ (out of 30)
17 seats are taken on E- (out of 72)

We would love to have E+ seats on window & aisle with middle seat open, but I do not think it will happen.

I was thinking about getting window & aisle seats on all the way back E-. But in case of taking standby passengers, it would be the worst.

IF it is going to be a full flight, I will let my wife have 6A and I will have 13A. Or ask passenger 13B to switch with 6A.

Does UA block a seat next (13B) if passenger (on 13A) has a lap child? IF this is the case, I will ask passenger on 13C to change seat with 6A.

I have no idea what to ask to UA agent when we are checking.

What is usual UA protocol with lapchild?
