On Saturday morning, I took SQ860 in economy from Singapore to Hong Kong and I saw the flight attendant talk to the passenger sitting in front of me. She was addressing him by his name and apparently it was his birthday. She offered to provide him a complimentary birthday cake. Originally, he was a bit unsure but she said that she could even provide it in a cake box so he can bring it with him when he leaves.
When we were leaving the plane in HK, the same flight attendant rushed out and passed the birthday cake to him. It seemed like a very nice touch. I presume he must be a Krisflyer member so they know his birtday. Is this something common in SQ or was he a very special guest ?

Anyone else had similar experiences?
