Bad old memories
There were a number of models of DC-8 and I was on most of them. Air Canada had a stretch version with separated sections. It seemed like something Aeroflot would use. Very funereal. I was glad to change to the L-1011. I managed one flight on a TWA Convair 880. It had a dripping air conditioning system. This was Howard Hughes' gift to TWA when he owned it and it was uncompetitive with the B720 and 707 and the DC8. I think only Delta and TWA had them. I don't miss any of these things. My worst flight ever was on a DC-8 on Crown Air - Canadian charter airline with one plane owned by a pest control company. I was told it had been retired from service by Air New Zealand. The flight was two days late and the company went out business the next week. I'll be glad not to see another DC-8. I've been on a DC-6 and of course a DC 9 but never a DC-7 or DC-4 or DC-3. Has anybody out there been on many of the Douglas varieties as a passenger?
