Yes, China Airways also have a horrible safety record. They are also on my 'will not fly list'.

Interestingly, when SQ lost its plane at Taipei, another SQ plane had done the exact same thing at HKG not long before that accident - it wasn't much reported on, because ATC noticed that the plane was not lined up on the right runway when it was announcing it was ready to depart and then found it on the northern runway, which while complete at that time, had not been commissioned (how the crew had made it out to that runway, through the barriers and no entry signs was the subject of some debate at the airport, particularly since this event was a daylight event). They redirected it back to the southern runway and it all ended happily - until another SQ plane made the exact same error at TPE but without the happy ending
