A word of warning on the Samsonite black label suitcases

I bought an expensive (US$700) Samsonite XLite black label suitcase. I liked the looks of them and the fact that they are very light (2.9 kilo for a 29" hardside spinner).

One of the wheels came off after the first flight and it was immediately badly scratched. I took it to a black label store. They sent it in for repairs and lent me a second-hand suitcase (same type, different colour). I never heard back from them and then left London so just kept the replacement suitcase.

After one long-haul trip one of the wheels came of that one also Emirates had it fixed for me.

I then took a third long-haul trip and another wheel came off and it was now very badly scratched. It looked pretty awful to be honest.

Luckily the airline gave me a cheque to buy a new one and I'll probably be getting a Briggs & Riley Transcend 27" which I've seen on special here in London. But definitely NOT a Samsonite black label.

Just an extra data point - YMMV.
