I have never had any issues as a regular safety pin carrier - bit of a runner and when off to marathons tend to have a whole pack of them to pin number on and no issues so far (maybe luck though I accept!).

... the body piercing, well thats a whole different issue... the things some of us will do for cheap thrill of a frisk!
