Friends of mine have never been able to come to a consensus - some take them off, some leave them on... conspicuous or non-conspicuous! Some have gotten thru with it on, some not... completely inconsistent it seems.

Anyone with valuable insight?

There was a well documented case in the US where someone with some body jewellery in a very private place was made to remove it using a pair of pliers by the TSO

It might be down to how sensitive the machine is and what and where the piercings are...
