**** Eugene. Quite the analysis. Well, I had been thinking of three of the packages as being worth the points; albeit that you pretty well chewed up one of the options. Maybe not so much the other two, though:

1-We had been chewing on the concept of the HH package in Scotland. In truth, I referenced a very similar analysis (similar to yours) to my wife. I.e., why not just buy a bottle of booze and who wants to travel 6,000 miles to sit in their hotel and eat at the same restaurant for every meal. HOWEVER, I did not know that you could even acquire regular nights at that property. Hence, in my minds-eye the 140,000 package was the only option to acquiring free digs in Scotland. Score one for Eugene.

The other two gigs that I had been thinking of were the 2-Kenya safari, and it still seems to me that that was a rather good offering. Plus, we have enough ff miles to travel RT for free. Pretty much I tie on this one in that I think several folks have referenced this as having been a good deal.

OK, my only shot at redemption here (I am not certain of the specifics on the offering). The other package that we were looking at was the 3-three nights in Vegas (no biggie there) AND I believe three nights on a houseboat at Lake Powell. If one had diamond status and could swing this package on a weekend in the summer; it would be well worth the points. <Sidenote, we live in Phx, so this it is a short trip to Lake Powell, as well as being a coveted item in the hot desert climes.>

In looking over the package, and assuming the mid-range houseboat, I recall thinking that the value per point worked out to somewhere around 1.25 cents per point. Seemed pretty decent to me, albeit this specific package just has more cachet to it (for us at least) than the others since we are desert nomads. Hence, we instinctively search out large bodies of water in the summer.
