I have the CO Chase debit card. You get 1 mile for every 2 dollars you spend unless you have the Plat signature card that will pay 1 mile for every dollar (you must have 50K in a linked account for the Plat signature card).

You do get you miles for every transaction on your card but none for taking cash out of the ATM. You do NOT get miles for paying your bills thru their bill pay system.

The ad they have is misleading- it points out that some companies- like cell phone companies- will let you pay your bill VIA a credit card. They are pointing out that you can use your debit card for these monthly charges and earn points. So unless your mortage company lets you charge you monthly payment to a credit card, you won't get points for paying your mortage....
