Welcome to MoreMilesPlease.

Hilton Mutual Funds are not really designed for two partners who travel a whole lot.
I joined my wife’s and mine when she no longer traveled for work and the combined stays allowed us to obtain VIP levels easier. (In addition in the past they would not allow more than one room per folio so if you traveled with family you could put all meals etc on one but you did not get points for the extra room rate)

While I agree the current awarding of Gold status for a lesser number of stays might allow you to pile up more points I foresee Hilton returning to the status quo sooner or later when it might be harder to attain Gold.

If both partners travel for business it would be best to have separate accounts anyway, and combine them later or if you need to obtain a reward requiring a large
number of points, but if you need your folio to reflect a particular partner you can always go the front desk at checkout and let the CSR add the required name on your final statement.

Regarding stays, the correct number of total stays have always been reflected on my account, you won’t get two stays ( as I thought at first when we combined)if you both
stay at the same time.

Finally the airlines miles is awarded to the default FF number listed in the profile for
(combined) account unless you change it at the check-in/checkout desk.
All last year I had my wife’s NWA number listed so I could inflate her NWA account even when the folio was in my name and even when she was not present on the stay.

One really great advantage to Mutual funds, which Hhonors no longer gives out,
were 10k certs for VIPS to be used as discounts to 100k awards, Gold members
got two and Gold Mutual members got four every year and we still have quite a few left ( they are still valid).

Mike
