Exactly. The DL people complain that the NW flyers complain too much. This is a case in point the other way.
I usually need my ID when I check in (check luggage), TSA, Skyclub, if I have to change terminals and need to go outside security, then I would need it again (doesn't happen often but does happen).
I too keep my ID very close to me - along with my boarding pass and my credit card - literally around my neck. Even if my ID were in my wallet, I can't see how much of a hassle it would be to get it out. I guess the same people who complain about this never buy a thing in the airport since it takes at least as much "hassle" to pull the wallet out for money or a credit card.
