I upgraded a BA Miles booking for my wife from WT to WTP using cash, based on an offer in the View My Bookings section of BA.com. It cost me £150 each way. I have had to subsequently cancel the booking and have been told that although the original booking is refundable 9cash and miles) the £300 I spent on the upgrade is not. I don't believe I was told at the time of the upgrade that it was non-refundable, this is not mentioned on any documentation I received and to be honest I can't see how the upgrade cost can be non-refundable when the original flight is refundable. Do I have a leg to stand-on? When I requested a refund the CSR told me it was impossible to upgrade a miles flight using cash and it was probably a mistake, it also took over a week to get back to me with a cancellation quote.
