When the OP hits Silver, the cheapos will work (for now) as they're currently TP-earning for Gold/Silver members and the T&Cs of that 'discount fare TPs' promo specifically state they count as qualifying flights. Until they're Silver though, they need a BA-coded TP earner as far as I know still.

The recent change has been to expand/clarify the 'BA' part of it - (i.e., any BA-coded service if memory serves), not drop the TP-earner part. Could be wrong though if speedbird182 can find the link they mention.
