Thanks for all of the responses! Not sure which desk I called - Diamond Awards or Diamond Reservation - actually didn't even know that there WAS a special Diamond # until someone posted recently. But in any case, here is how it went down: My first call was unsuccessful, the guy basically said, "nope, they're full, nothing I can do." Thats when I posted my question to flyertalk. After your responses, I decided to call back. The woman I spoke with said the same thing - nothing available - but when I asked if there was ANYTHING they could do. She said - "hold on, let me call the hotel directly." Unfortunately, I won't know until Monday/Tuesday but I'm feeling a lot better about my chances! Thanks for the advice!
