IC Grand Stanford Hong Kong
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One night stay.
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
I am never disappointed here -- value for money.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?'
Booked a best flexible 'Double Bed Deluxe' ($1001 HKD), pre-upgraded to a King Deluxe Harbour View with Club access (based on my request) . . . and a lovely view of the harbor it is. Travelling alone so suite was a waste.
How are the rooms?
After a great welcome at check-in and the check-in agent (from Canada) showing me to my room, it is what I have come to expect--not huge but adequate for my needs. The furnishings and everything are in great condition so no complaints although TV etc could use updating.
As indicated previously Ugo Vanelli toiletries in the bathroom and big comfy bed and large pillows (I prefer small but can deal with it). Minibar well-stocked with Absolut, Gordon's and Chivas plus beer by Carlsberg, Heineken and Tsing Tao plus variety of soft drinks, fruit juice and wine (red and white).
Large box of chocolates and oranges and fruit cake for welcome gift.
Wired and wireless internet is free (I think for everyone now?)... good speed and consistent connection.
How is the exec. lounge?
VERY NICE. Welcoming and helpful staff - Evening drinks and snacks 6pm to 8:30pm. Afternoon tea 3 pm to 5pm. Breakfast 7am to 11am.
Nice light food which is what I need right now!
Excellent buffet for breakfast!
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Most everything!
Bad:
Printer ran out of toner but a quick call and a quick fix--they brought new toner within 10 minutes.
Edited to add: Also--no power outlets--had to unplug fax just to get 1 outlet. For my external drive needed to unplug the trouser rack at the opposite end of the cabinet! Seems they should have at least a power bar. All the outlets are old style -- totally inaccessible, hard wired to the appliance/lamp.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Excellent value--back to prices of SARS days (but I don't want to go back to that!). Will come again on several trips to China this year.
Other IC is overpriced in my opinion but I still prefer the Conrad all round for my money (it is overpriced too but worth it).
I have had many good stays here before but they have upped the ante with club access as one of the RA options.
Let's hope my points post correctly . . .
