I absolutely adore Port Douglas but haven't stayed at the Sheraton. Reports are of excellent Platinum recognition.

I highly recommend the Thala Beach Lodge (though I haven't been to the property in about 4 years and some recent reviews at tripadvisor mention rooms have gotten a bit tired).
