Bank Charges International Transaction Fee When Purchasing Tix w/SQ Res?
I was pretty much baffled when I got to the bank and my teller told me that I have a minus balance in my checking account. Of course I asked her from what, and she asked me back, "Have you been abroad lately? Because there's a huge international transaction fee here".
Naturally I said no, and I wonder what happened, so I explained to her that I bought a tix with Singapore Airlines and she replied to me saying, "Perhaps it's because of that, They might require conversion to $SIN."
After she had said that, I automatically answer, "No, that's impossible; they charge me in US$, why would they convert it back?"
And she said she don't know.. While me.. I'm just speechless..
So I've decided to take some money and fill in the negative balance at that point and decided to call the res agent in SFO asking this..
She said for me to get a copy of the statement, e-receipt and email it all to her.. And she said she will refund it.
I wonder why this happened? I purchased it with Debit Card (Since I don't have CCs, mind you). Has anyone else ever have this 'mishap'?
The thing I was shocked with was when she (the teller) said they converted it SIN$, and I wonder, why would they convert it to SIN dollars when they charge me in US$?
